Meet the Miss England glamour queen who has just graduated from Cambridge and is set to become a doctor

A FORMER Miss England glamour queen has secured a job as a junior doctor after graduating from one of the world’s most prestigious universities.

Carina Tyrrell graduated from Cambridge University today, at the end of a six year programme of study which saw her awarded with a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery.

The 26-year-old beauty queen proved she is far more than a pretty face by gaining her first-class medicine degree at the prestigious university, where Carina was awarded with a number of distinctions and prizes during the last three years of her course.

And the Miss World runner-up has secured a job as a junior doctor in rival university city Oxford after completing her studies.

The medical maestro said: “I’m really thrilled to have got my degree and looking forward to starting my job as a doctor, it’s what I have always wanted to do.

“I’m a little nervous about it as I’ll have a lot of responsibility on my shoulders, but I want to be the best doctor that I can be.”

Carina, whose mum was a secretary and dad was a physicist, is the only member of her family to go into medicine.

And her parents now have even more reason to be proud, two years after she won the title of Miss England.

The model student, who also came in the top five in the 2014 Miss World competition, had taken a gap year from her studies to focus on her charity work, but returned for her final year of uni in the Autumn of last year.

Despite juggling her studies with shifts at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, Carina managed to scoop a top degree from Cambridge uni – the best in the country.

Having been trained in A&E, on the wards and in the operating theatre, the former Miss England icon is now more than ready to swap the pageant glamour for the gritty reality of the medical profession.

And, after her graduation, she is now set to start her new job as a junior doctor at John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford, where she will do a two-year programme.

However, her Miss England days aren’t all behind her, as Carina has been invited to help judges at this year’s final.

She said: “I’m still involved with events as an ex-Miss England and I’ve been helping to set the charity challenges for the girls taking part in this year’s competition.”

Carina’s  claims that the Cambridgeshire model is the most successful Miss England contestant ever.

And, as if all that isn’t enough, the medical graduate has raised £19,800 so far for charity through her Miss England and Miss World work.
