High-maintenance, much? You won’t believe these 11 most outrageous celebrity requests
From Adele's four-hour takeaway to Xtina's Flintstone-shaped vitamins, we chart the most shocking diva moments
IT'S funny what a sell-out tour, millions in the bank and a few awards can for you.
Tottenham-bred singer Adele was one the most down-to-earth singer in the business, now she’s joined the likes of Naomi and Mariah and become a true showbiz diva….
ADELE
Last week, the world-famous star phoned for room service while staying at the Oxfordshire hotel Soho Farmhouse with her husband Simon Konecki and three-year old son Angelo.
So far, so normal, except she sent poor hotel staff on 140-mile round trip to her favourite pizzeria in Kensington to fetch her food at 11pm - and she didn’t even eat it.
When the pizza arrived four hours later Adele was asleep, and it remained uneaten.
JUSTIN BIEBER
No one likes to be reminded of their ex.
But Biebs went to extremes in 2013, when he forbade any music by Selena Gomez to be played on a shoot.
In the contract, obtained by TMZ, he apparently also said that no one was allowed to talk to him, not even the photographer.
GERI HALLIWELL
Back in 2001 when Geri was a successful solo singer, she visited and performed for British troops in the Middle Eastern country of Oman, along with the band Steps.
But she courted controversy when it was revealed she was paid 'tens of thousands of pounds' by the Ministry of Defence for the show and wouldn’t allow any photographs to be taken because she wanted the footage exclusively.
As if that wasn’t diva-ish enough, it was reported that the singer paid for an entire floor of the Hilton Hotel so she could avoid bumping into Steps.
NAOMI CAMPBELL
Diva behaviour from supermodel Ms Campbell is hardly news.
She once asked for a flight from London to Los Angeles be delayed in 2008, after one of her bags went astray. Her wish, thankfully, wasn't granted.
While filming The Face in 2014 she reportedly claimed that no staff were allowed to talk to her unless she said ‘hi’ first.
We think the chances of that happening are slim.
MARIAH CAREY
Kate Garraway said that when she interviewed Mariah in 2009 the famous singer (and infamous diva) was LOWERED onto the GMTV sofa by two ITV producers so that she wouldn’t crease her dress.
She also had an assistant walk backwards in front of her at all times in case she fell over. As you do.
CHER
During her Living Proof: The Farewell Tour from 2002 to 2005, the iconic singer requested a separate room just for all her wigs and hairpieces.
Also on the rider was a request for Aloe Vera tissues – but only if they were presented in cube-shaped boxes. Obvs.
RELATED STORIES
CHRISTINA AGUILERA
Back in 2010, it was said that Xtina’s diva demands on tour included a police escort for her because “under no circumstances are the vehicles allowed to encounter any delays due to traffic.”
And then there was the reported request for two 8ft tables with cloths, plants, flowers and carpet, water but “NOT Evian,” Flintstones chewable vitamins, a roll of film, soy cheese and Nesquik.
Any chance she’s chilled out now that she hasn’t got a tour to promote?
BEYONCE
During her famous Super Bowl performance in 2013, Queen Bee may have let loose on stage but she was rigidly demanding behind the scenes.
Allegedly she insisted that her daughter, Blue Ivy, had her own nursery backstage, which was scented with rose-petal candles.
It was also reported that her £14,000 handmade cot had to be flown over from New York.
That’s one lucky baby.
JENNIFER LOPEZ
She has sold over 55 million records and maintains that she’s still ‘Jenny from the block,’ but J. Lo is notorious for her diva demands - in particular her penchant for the colour white.
It’s widely reported that on video shoots and in dressing rooms she insists on all-white curtains, furniture, flowers, candles and linen sheets.
KANYE WEST
We don’t know how Kim Kardashian puts up with her husband, sometimes.
When appearing on the BBC’s Later with Jools Holland show in 2013, Kanye demanded that his dressing room carpet was ironed by an assistant, as it was “too bumpy.”
KATE MOSS
Supermodels and diva behaviour go hand-in-hand, even if said model does hail from Croydon.
In 2010 Mossy reportedly demanded an entire smoking area to be installed at Selfridges, ahead of her launch of a range of bags for designer label Longchamp.
Additional requests for the space apparently included champagne and scented candles.
We’re not sure if she was granted the area, though we can’t imagine Kate slipping onto Oxford Circus for a cheeky cig.
