Meet the man who’s so obsessed with looking like a parrot he changed his name to ‘Ted Parrotman’ and CUT OFF his own ears

He's had hours of surgery, and over 100 tattoos and 50 piercings, all so he can look like his beloved pets

TED Parrotman loves his pet parrots so much he turned himself into one.

The 55-years-old from Bristol has had hours of surgery to turn himself into a walking, talking parrot – including over 100 tattoos, 50 piercings, and even getting his tongue split and ears removed.

“I’ve done it because I want to look like my parrots as much as possible. I’ve had my hair long for so many years my ears have been covered up," said Ted.

“I have to admit I did used to get teased at school about my ears but that not the reason I’ve had it done."

The surgery to remove his lobes took six hours, and after they were sliced off he gifted them to a friend who preserved them in resin.

Ted said: "When I had my ears removed I had these put in [two metal studs into the side of his head] to hold my glasses on. Otherwise my glasses fall off."

While many may consider Ted's relationship with his parrots odd, he sees it very differently.

He said: "People come up to me and say I'm weird what I'm doing, and the thing I'd say to them is everyone is entitled to their own opinion."

His relationship is so good with his parrots they will often sit on his head for hours on end.

"She'll sit there for ages. I can walk round with her on my head," he revealed.

Although often this results in the odd bird dropping landing in places you may not want.

"I had it all over the place it don't worry me," he said.

"I've had it on my head, on my face, in my mouth. I've had her bring up food in my mouth and stuff. And yeah I don't mind, it's good luck innit."

Once a shoe factory worker, Ted now spends most of his time looking after his parrots, pet green iguana and Pit Bull Terrier.

Pete tells us his relationship with his pet parrots Teaka and Ellie is not sexual, and that the friendship they offer has replaced his sexual desires.

Despite his plutonic love for his pets, Ted does admit to finding his parrots attractive.

"To me they're attractive. I had a four poster bed at one time, and I used to have Ellie on one side and Teaka on my neck," revealed Ted.

"I kiss them all over the place," he said. "I kiss them all over the place, I kiss Teaka and Ellie under their wings, and all over the place."

To show his love for his birds, Ted changed his name this year to Ted Parrotman, which is now officially recognised by deed poll.

Although he says that many people in the local area have known him as Parrotman for years, altering his name on Facebook was harder than changing his actual name.

To make himself appear more like a bird he even got parrot-like wings tattooed onto his face.

Seventeen years ago Ted got his first tattoo, and has since gone onto get more than 100.
