You’ve been going to the toilet wrong your ENTIRE LIFE
From sitting position to when you choose to go... according to an expert, us Brits are getting it all wrong. This is how you should ACTUALLY be pooing
TOILET trips are not something we normally like to talk about in public but listen up, because there’s a few things you’re almost certainly doing wrong.
Apparently, nearly all of us Brits have been pooing wrong for our ENTIRE LIVES and it’s not even our faults – it’s to do with the way the loos are made.
The sitting position of the standard toilet seat, while convenient and pleasant enough to look at it, is NOT practical at all when it comes to getting your bowels moving.
In fact, if toilets were really made with pooping in mind – they would probably just be holes in the ground.
Sitting down means you HAVE to push when you poo, causing unnecessary strain on your bum hole.
This can, in extreme cases, cause strain and haemorrhoids.
The Bloat Cure author Robynne Chutkan told : “We were designed to squat to poop.
“When we squat, the knees press up against the abs, which increases intra-abdominal pressure to help stool evacuate.”
Yes, you heard right, apparently we should also be crouching and squatting to do a number two – rather than sitting down like the civilised people we really are.
And that’s not the only mistake many of us are making.
Things you should do when taking a number 2:
Don’t hold it in: This trains your bowels to delay the entire process, which could cause constipation.
Have a quick glance at your poo: To see it looks normal.
Otherwise, you could be missing vital signs there’s something wrong with your body.
Make sure your wipe’s squeaky clean: Or you may have some more work to do.
So that’s it – just a few things to think about next time nature calls.
