A MUM, who suffered over 15 miscarriages, was told by a psychic that she was pregnant while on the pill and it was a gift from a stillborn son and now she’s gone on to have a baby.
Laura Dove, now 36, struggled for years with pregnancy and tragically her second son, Joseph was stillborn at full term in July 2006.
Amazingly, almost eight years later and after a marriage breakdown and more miscarriages, Laura was told she was pregnant with a baby boy.
Laura, who admitted she only visited the clairvoyant out of curiosity, was bewildered as she was on the pill at the time.
The mum-of-four said: "I told the psychic I wasn't pregnant but that I had just had a baby girl three months before.
"But she said, 'you're pregnant with a little boy now. Joseph has sent him for you'.
"She also told me she could see a little boy standing next to holding an elephant.
"We had put a stuffed toy elephant in the coffin with Joseph and only my husband at the time, Steven and I knew this.
"The psychic told me Joseph was always around me and that was very nice to hear. We named him Harrison Joseph because Joseph sent him to us.”
Harrison's birth completed Laura's family adding to her oldest son Lewis, 12, Eva, four, and Megan, three.
But Laura speaks about the tragedy surrounding his death: "As I had suffered miscarriages previously, we had early scans and we saw the baby's heartbeat at six weeks and nine weeks before our 12-week scan."
Things deteriorated for Laura and her now ex-husband at 36 weeks when she remembers Joseph making a strange movement.
She said: "It was like Joseph was struggling and fighting and his kicks were erratic and then just stopped.”
After the couple went to have the baby's heart monitored they were given the devastating news that their baby had died in the womb.
She said: "We both just felt numb. I could not believe it and thought they had got it wrong. I kept telling them I had felt the baby move but they explained that what I had felt was the baby moving in the fluid.
"Our eldest son Lewis was only two and was expecting a new baby brother to come home soon."
Laura was dealt a further blow when she was told she would still have to give birth to Joseph and after a gruelling 36-hour labour Laura asked if her second son was alive.
She said: "Joseph was born weighing 5lb and he was 48cm long. He had jet black hair and looked just like my eldest and was perfect.
"The first question I asked was, 'Is he alive?' I was still holding on to the hope it was all a mistake.
"But they told me that sadly he wasn't."
A year later, Laura and Steven tried again for a baby but suffered further miscarriages, eventually; it all proved too much for the couple and their marriage broke down.
Laura said: "I was single again at 28 and thought I would never have another baby. I tried to make a life for myself with Lewis and trained as a teaching assistant."
Laura did find love again with Gareth, the pair quickly moved in together before getting engaged; and they soon started trying for a baby but sadly suffered more miscarriages.
Eventually Laura was told by a specialist to inject herself with blood thinner, explaining: "I injected myself while pregnant with Eva but it was the worst pregnancy because I was convinced she would die.
"I would not even buy a babygro before Eva was born. They induced me at 35 weeks and Eva was born perfect."
Just six months later, Laura became pregnant with Megan and three months later she was told by a psychic she was pregnant with Harrison.
He was also born at 35 weeks but, as he was born, he stopped breathing and turned blue.
Laura said: "I was so frightened Harrison would die and thought we'd tempted fate too many times.
"However, they resuscitated him and he spent two weeks on the neonatal unit before coming home and was absolutely fine."
Laura and her ex-husband Steven were supported by the charity SANDS, a stillborn and neonatal death charity, and has organised a fundraising event in Joseph's honour.
She said: "We have been very lucky with our family after the tragedy of losing Joseph.
"There is always a part of our family missing and I wanted to do something to make Joseph proud.”
