A HAIR care expert has revealed the reason why people with fine locks should be using conditioner BEFORE they shampoo.
Most people have been taught to shampoo, rinse, lather, rinse, repeat and then use conditioner but now experts are advising people to change their routine.
Nina Dimachki, artistic director for Kérastase, told "Conditioning before you shampoo is great for adding nourishment to fine hair without weighing it down.
"It also promotes a longer lasting blowdry and primes the hair before cleansing, allowing shampoo to distribute easier and more evenly."
And it's not just people with fine hair that would benefit from the new routine, those with highlighted hair are also advised to condition first as Nina says their hair tangles easily and is prone to greasiness.
Now, popular hair brands are introducing product lines which promote the pre-shampoo condition method, including Kérastase and Tresemmé.

And the routine doesn't require any extra effort, you simply have to reverse your usual process and instead of conditioning from ears down, start from the root and continue to the tip.
Your hair should be wet throughout and Nina explains that your locks won't get greasy because:"You will be cleansing it after, so your hair won't be weighed down or oily."
Even people with thick hair should be able to see a difference if they try a condition-shampoo- condition regimen, says Nina.
And with summer just beginning, our hair is prone to become dry and in need of extra hydration, so it's the perfect time to try the new routine.
