Another reason to be careful when taking photos… Now SELFIE ELBOW is a thing
A US TV host has been told she has the condition, which is similar to tennis elbow and is caused by overusing the muscles in the arm
STRETCHING out your arm to get the perfect angle for a photo might not seem like a particularly dangerous motion, but we have news for you - it could be.
We already know you're more likely to die taking a selfie than in shark attack, thanks to some from last year.
But now it seems there's a new thing to worry about in the shape of SELFIE ELBOW.
Heard of tennis elbow?
Well this is sort of like that, but caused by taking pics of yourself.
If you're thinking this is all sounding a bit far fetched, allow us to present the proof.
It comes in the shape of Hoda Kotb, who co-hosts American TV show Today.
As well as being a news anchor, Hoda is a prolific selfie taker.
All you need to do is check out her Instagram if you don't believe us - it's stuffed with pics she's taken of herself.
No problem with that at all, apart from Hoda claims the pastime has left her with a problem with her elbow.
"I went to the orthopedist and he said, 'Are you playing tennis or ping-pong?' And of course I'm not, so I told him I was taking selfies," she m.
"When you take the picture, your arm is up, bent in a weird way and you just click, click, click - think about how many you take: 20, 30, or 40.
"Selfie elbow, everyone has it!"

The problem here is in the repetition.
If you do anything over and over again it's going to cause you problems, which is why RSI (repetitive strain injury) is a thing.
The result is a deep ache which is really hard to shift, although Hoda is trying.
She's been given some exercises by her doctor to help with the pain and puts ice on the affected area too.
Selfie elbow is similar to tennis elbow, which doesn't just affect people who play the racket sport despite the name.
It's caused by people overusing the muscles around their elbow, which can mean they strain or tear. It can make even simple things like holding a pen or opening a door difficult.
So there you have it, your selfie obsession could actually be dangerous.
