A transgender beauty queen who was ‘bullied and spat on’ at school has the last laugh as she’s crowned Miss Transgender England
In one of her competitions, organisers didn't even realise that Pammy was born a boy
A BEAUTY queen is competing to be crowned Miss Transgender UK, which offers up the prize of a life-changing sex change operation.
Talented Pammy Rose, originally Paul Witten, impressed judges by winning both Miss Trangender England and fan favourite, an achievement which has never been won by any other contestant.
Growing up as a boy, Pammy was bullied so badly that she feared leaving her house.
When she turned 14, she decided to embrace who she was, glamming up with makeup and dressing in girls’ school uniform.
At 18, the teen decided to change her name to Pammy, after being compared to Pamela Anderson.
It wasn’t until Pammy turned 20 that she decided to enter a local beauty contest, The Face of Sunderland.
Stunning Pammy, now 23, from Seaham, County Durham, was thrown into the spotlight after winning the competition without the organisers realising she’d been born a boy.
Last weekend, Pammy travelled to London to battle for the title of Miss Transgender UK against five other contestants.
Pageant hopefuls had to answer a series of personal questions, perform a talent and walk the catwalk in an elegant ball-gown.
During the competition, Pammy revealed what it was like to grow up as transgender.
She explained: "When answering the questions I told them growing up wasn't easy, I was bullied and spat on.
"My dad walked out of my life but my mam got me through everything.
"I said I wasn't treated the same as everyone else in the work place which gave me a fear of going back into work, knowing the reception."

For the talent section of the competition, Pammy choreographed a dance routine to go with a medley of songs by her idol Britney Spears.
There’s no doubt that it impressed the judges, as Pammy went on to be crowned the winner.
She remembered: "I was so surprised I came first place, I was so shocked and emotional.
"I looked straight at my mam and started crying.
"I couldn't have done it without her.
"Overall it was amazing, I am still taking it all in.
"It's such a privilege to be honoured with this title."
After scooping up the English prize, Pammy is now set to take on Miss Wales and other runners up for the title of Miss Transgender UK 2016, which is held at Leeds Pride on July 5th.
If successful, Pammy will win a voucher for a full sex change operation, something she has always dreamed of.
Determined Pammy explained: "I am going for gold, this is what I eat, breath and sleep.
“I did this not only for me but for the trans community.
"I want to be the transgender spokesperson for the UK."
She added: "I am a straight woman.
"I have always considered myself a woman but inside a man's body.
"I finally feel I have been accepted.
"But I will never stop fighting the fight for transgender people."
