How much did these women pay to feel comfortable with their beach bods?
An astonishing 80% of Brit women are unhappy with their looks
SUMMER is here and many of us are dreaming of sunny beach holidays.
But for a rising number of Brits, this is something to fear as wearing a bikini is the stuff of nightmares.
Jenny Francis meets four women who have overhauled their bodies — and hears what they’ve spent in the process.
Kylie: £0
NUTRITIONAL adviser Kylie Newman, 27, regained her body confidence after splitting from her partner in 2014.
The mum-of-one, from Dagenham, Essex, says: “I felt bad about my body but I didn’t realise it was down to my bad relationship.
“Without the constant arguing and a negative influence in my life, I was able to see things clearly. I ditched the junk food for fruit and had three healthy meals a day.
“I’ve now lost four stone, going from 13st 7lb to 9st 7lb and a size ten. Being able to wear a bikini with pride is an incredible achievement.”
Tiffany: £1k
MUM-OF-ONE Tiffany Brown overhauled her 15st, size 14 figure with weightlifting. The 22-year-old, from Morpeth, Northumberland, now weighs 8st and is a svelte size six.
She says: “I had my son Charlie in November 2012 and was mortified when I saw pictures of myself after I put on weight.
“As soon as I started going to the gym, I stopped eating processed food completely.
“I spend £20 on gym membership a week and my food bill has gone up but, in five months, I lost five stone. The effect on my confidence has been huge.”
Melissa: £5k
MELISSA BRAY, from Sunningdale, Surrey, hated wearing swimwear because she was self-conscious about her flat chest.
Earlier this year, the 19-year-old business studies student splashed out £5,000 on an op to take her from a modest 32AA to a 32B.
She says: “I hated how I looked in a bikini. I often got asked if my 14-year-old sister and I were twins, which was horrible.
“I absolutely love my new boobs and it’s amazing how much more confident I am.
“In July, I’m going to South America for two months – and I plan to pack lots of bikinis.”
Donna: £7k
FULL-TIME mum-of-three Donna Murrell loves to show off her body in bikinis after a pal treated her to a £7,000 tummy tuck.
The 46-year-old, from Rayleigh, Essex, who is married to Darren 51, hated her saggy stomach since her third son was born 11 years ago.
She says: “Bikinis were a definite no-no before this op. Now I love stripping down and showing off my figure.
“I always used to insist on the lights being off when I was getting undressed but, these days, I’m like a new woman. Now I can’t wait to get on the beach in a two-piece.”
