grounds for divorce?

You’re more likely to get divorced if you have this number of sexual partners… and it’s more than you might think

Apparently, it's partly to do with the growing trend of 'hooking up'

WOMEN who sleep with just two people being getting married are MORE LIKELY to get divorced than ladies with between three and nine previous sexual partners, according to new research.

Apparently, as we all become more promiscuous and having multiple sexual partners before tying the knot becomes the norm, it’s good to have a point of comparison for your future hubby.

The idea that ladies who sleep with more people before marriage are more likely to stick with one man after wedding seems counter-intuitive, but apparently it’s true.

However, ladies who were virgins before wedding were the least likely to get divorced – and those who had 10 or more partners the most likely, although this only became the case in recent years.

However, the amount of virgin brides are in decline.

In the 1970s, 21 per cent of women were virgins before marrying and 43 per cent had only had one sexual partner.

But during this decade, just five per cent of women were virgins when tying the knot and 22 per cent had only had one sexual partner.

The report’s author , a professor at University of Utah’s department of family and consumer studies, explained: “In short, if you’re going to have comparisons to your (future) husband, it’s better to have more than one.

“How has sexual behaviour changed in recent years? Most answers to this question involve hooking up, the idea that young people are having sexual encounters outside of committed relationships.

“It’s almost beside the point that millennials tend to have fewer sex partners than people born in the 1950s and 1960s.

“Public perceptions emphasise youthful licentiousness, and today’s young adults do have lengthier sexual biographies than people born prior to 1950.

“Still, the extent of hooking up has been exaggerated by a prurient and overheated media and sometimes young people themselves.”
