From a dazzling designer gown to a chic emerald coat: The thrifty Duchess of Cambridge’s top wardrobe repeats revealed
Kate isn't afraid to dig an old favourite out of her closet...
SHE'S earned herself the nickname 'the queen of thrift' thanks to her knack of recycling old wardrobe favourites.
And last night the Duchess of Cambridge received praise from fashionistas for donning a dazzling gown she has worn before.
Kate stepped out to attend a charity gala dinner, at Houghton Hall near her Norfolk home, in a stunning light pink Jenny Peckham dress, which was adorned with intricate silver beading.
She previously wore the glitzy frock to one of her first engagements as a member of the Royal Family, following her 2011 wedding.
The 34-year-old looked like the perfect princess in the £3,000 gown, accessorised with chandelier diamond earrings loaned to her by the Queen.
But this isn't the first outfit she's pulled out the back of her closet in recent months...
Cream de la cream
Earlier this month Kate arrived at a royal garden party, held in Hillsborough Castle, Northern Ireland, in a cream brocade coat she had previously worn a decade earlier.
She teamed the gorgeous Day Birger et Mikkelsen outerwear with her signature nude heels and a statement floral headpiece.
The Duchess first turned heads in the elegant coat, created by a high-end Swedish label, in 2006 while attending the wedding of Camilla Parker Bowles’ daughter, Laura.
Clearly a go-to piece, she wore it again while attending the nuptials of Zara and Mike Tindall in 2011 and to the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games in 2012.
Lady in red
Everyone was on red alert when Kate joined fellow royals at the Garter Service at Windsor Castle on 13 June 2016.
All eyes were on the stylish mum-of-two thanks to her striking scarlet 'Marianne'
coat by British designer, Catherine Walker - formerly a favourite label of Princess Diana.
Ever the penny-pincher, the Duchess teamed the statement-making piece, which buttoned up and featured large lapels, with a half-price designer gown by Rokasanda, a Lock & Co hat and red suede heels.
Kate has previously worn the custom-made outfit while in Canada in 2011 during a trip to Calgary Zoo.
She decided to accessorise it then with classic nude heels.
A bit of all white
Thrifty Kate decided not to splash out on a new outfit for the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations – choosing instead to don an old favourite.
She appeared at the Trooping the Colour ceremony on 11 June 2016 in a cream Alexander McQueen coat-dress she had previously worn for her daughter Princess Charlotte’s Christening last year.
This time, Kate added a bit of colour to the understated outfit with the help of a pastel pink Philip Treacy hat, which was applauded by royal style watchers.
The website WhatWouldKateDo.com described the look as “ravishing”, adding: “Kate’s gorgeous updo and Philip Treacy hat for Trooping the Colour are blowing our mind!”.
She won’t change her stripes!
The Duchess’ number one wardrobe go-to is a French-inspired Breton top.
Kate has a large number of the easy-to-throw-on jerseys in her collection but a number of designers including Ralph Lauren, Petit Bateau and J Crew.
A favourite appears to be one by British designer, ME & EM.
She donned the long-sleeved, off-duty garment while attending a polo match with Prince George in 2012 and again while taking part in a yacht race in New Zealand in April 2014.
She usually pairs the item with black skinny jeans and cork wedges.
Green with envy
The Duchess looked to nature for style inspiration while attending the Chelsea Flower Show with Prince William in May.
She donned a bright emerald green coat by British designer Catherine Walker and teamed it with nude L. K. Bennett heels.
The collarless, jewel-toned coat features a thick belt around the waist and a silver zip fastening.
Kate previously wore the coat-dress in 2014 while on a royal tour of Australia and New Zealand.
Arise McQueen, Kate!
Kate opted for a nice and nautical ensemble while visiting Sir Ben Ainslie’s racing team in Portsmouth on 20 May 2016.
The Duchess wore a £580 navy pencil skirt with flirty kick pleats by Alexander McQueen, with the brand’s co-ordinating £795 cream blouse featuring gold button detailing.
Down-to-earth Kate has rocked this look a whopping three times.
She has previously worn the outfit during a trip to Birmingham with Prince William in 2011 to meet communities affected by the riots and during a visit to Bletchley Park in June 2014.
Right to bare arms
Kate flexed her style credentials in a Roksanda dress she’s worn twice before while attending a mental healthy charity meeting at the start of May.
The Duchess turned heads in the £800 dove grey dress, that features an intricate pleated neckline and waist belt detailing.
She has previously worn the dress while arriving at Los Angeles airport in 2011 and during a visit to the Royal Academy of Arts in 2012.
