AS if being a celebrity with your life under the microscope wasn’t tough enough, some celebrities have to brush off the headline-grabbing antics of their kids.
Take Marco Pierre White Jr, the son of the British chef and TV personality Marco Pierre White Sr, for example.
He became the first Big Brother housemate to be evicted from the Channel 5 reality TV show on Friday after sexual antics with fellow housemate Laura Carter and ramblings about his party lifestyle and drug taking.
Needless to say, his engagement to Kim Melville-Smith is over - but it wasn’t just his now ex-fiancée who was left less than impressed.
His mother, Mati Conejero, told how watching him on the show made her break down and, although Marco Jr insists his father is proud, he has admitted he feels like he let him down ‘a tiny bit’.
They’re certainly not the only celebrity parents faced with trying to sweep their offspring’s embarrassing antics under the carpet though…
Billy Ray Cyrus and Miley
All fathers struggle with the day their little baby girl becomes a fully-fledged woman, but Miley Cyrus certainly didn’t ease her dad through it.
The blink-and-you-missed-it transition from sweet and innocent Hannah Montana to pole-dancing, drug-taking party animal must have been hard to stomach.
Bong-gate was a low point, when Miley decided to celebrate her first year of adulthood experimenting with drugs (albeit with one that’s legal in the state of California) and the incriminating video went viral.
Her 2013 performance at the VMAs in a near-naked outfit with a huge foam finger also raised some eyebrows but, by then, Billy Ray knew to embrace his daughter’s quirks (and twerks) and came out saying he was proud of her for reinventing herself. Aww... We think?
George Bush and his daughters Barbara and Jenna
As if being taken seriously wasn’t already tough enough for George Bush, his twin daughters running riot certainly didn’t help.
Barbara and Jenna Bush were arrested by police when they were 19 after sneaking out of the White House and running red lights to evade their Secret Service detail – an escapade that made international news and is sure to have given the former US President a bit of a headache.
The pair of ‘Secret Service nightmares’ were arrested for alcohol-related charges twice within five weeks in 2001 and Jenna was ordered to complete 8 hours of community service and an alcohol awareness course.
Jenna, now 34, doesn’t seem to have any regrets though and has encouraged Malia Obama to ‘make mistakes’ in college (while also ‘praising the Lord’ that social media didn’t exist during her university days).
Who knows what else those two got up to…
Tom Hanks and his son Chet
Tom Hanks’ rapper son Chet has been trying to kick-start his hip hop career for years – something that has attracted mockery from his critics.
And he certainly didn’t help himself when he dropped the N-word on Instagram.
Talk about awks.
Needless to say, the 25-year-old’s juvenile rant about lame friends who ‘wander aimlessly through life because they are scared of failure’ didn’t quite get the reception he was hoping for.
Chet has also suffered with substance abuse problems and Tom and his wife, Rita Wilson, are now being sued after he caused an accident using their car last year.
Joyriding never turns out as well as it does in the movies, eh.
