The eye-popping tip thrilled the waiters at a Thai restaurant in Colorado but not for long

PEOPLE can be extremely generous when they're drunk and some of them instantly regret it the next day.

Like this one intoxicated guy who left a $1,088 (£768) tip at Thailicious in Edgewater, Colorado for a $60 (£42) meal  but came back the following day to ask for it back.

Bee Anantatho, owner of the Thai restaurant, told the that one of her waiters brought the surprising cash tip over to her after clearing the man’s table and picking up the checkbook, where customers usually put extra money for gratitude.

Describing her waiter's reaction, she said“He said he’d read a lot of stories like this, but usually the tip is a couple hundred dollars, not $1,000. He was so happy.”

Happy - but not for long it seems.

Rather than putting the tip straight to the jar to be shared out with her staff, Bee decided to hold on to it just in case the customer came back.

And he didn't disappoint - the next day, he turned up full of regret and asked for his money back.

Bee said: "He said, ‘I’m sorry, I was drunk'. He didn’t know he put all the money he had in the checkbook.”

It turns out the customer thought some of the $100 notes he put down t were $1 bills.

She gave the money back to him and he gave her $100 (£70) to cover both the dinner and the the tip.

Be, who owns the popular restaurant with her husband Surachai Surabotsopon, thinks the customer will return but we're not sure the waiters will be too happy to see him again.
