Hol that pose

Get set for summer with our simple bikini tricks and send us snaps for our beach body comp

IF YOU are more flab than fab in your holiday snaps, don’t blame your bikini – you chose the wrong pose.

And given that 25 per cent of women feel less confident in a bikini, according to a recent survey by George at Asda, The Sun has come to the rescue.

Our ultimate guide to how to pose in a bikini – whether you are perched on a stool at the beach bar or lounging on your sunbed – will get you noticed for all the right reasons.

SIOBHAN O’CONNOR uses size 14 model Geenay Laubscher, 20, from East London to show how simple tricks such as bending your legs, sitting up straight and changing your shoes can turn a so-so shot into a sensation.

Standing up

Don't slump...stand up straight and twist the body slightlyCredit: Stewart Williams

TIP: Swap your flats for heels if you’re posing for a picture while standing.
Wearing a pair of wedges instantly pulls you up and improves your posture, making your legs look longer and more toned.

Remember to twist your body slightly to narrow your waist.

Also, shift your weight on to your back hip, so that your bum goes away from the camera, and bring one knee forward.

This will show off your beautiful curves and make sure that you go in and out in all the right places.

Sun lounger

Sitting upright is not a good idea...instead lean back to elongate bodyCredit: Stewart Williams

TIP: Sitting bolt upright when you are on your sun lounger is never a great idea, especially when you are wearing a bikini.
Instead, lean further back, which will lengthen your body and flatten your stomach.

And keep your legs slightly bent, with one raised higher than the other – this will give a little gap and show off the muscles in your leg.

Make sure you roll your hips towards the camera too, this will prevent your thigh from looking larger than it really is and make sure you look like a lounging lovely.

Chair

Slouching is a no no for pics...sit up with back straight to look slimmer

TIP: It’s easy not to realise that you are slouching in your seat, but the result of that will be really obvious in the photo.

Stretching out your legs will elongate them and make them look slimmer and toned.

While sitting up, with your back straight, will make you look taller and slimmer too. Make sure to suck in your tummy and push out your chest.

Selfie

Low angle shot doesn't show you at your best...aim for above to show off cleavage

TIP: The angle and lighting are always the main issues to consider when taking a good selfie.

Make sure you take the photo from above and at arm’s length and that you are outside, where the light is bright and natural.

By shooting higher up it will show off your cleavage and put a lot of emphasis on your eyes, whereas a low angle shot is a great way to show off your nostrils and puts your tummy in the limelight. Stand straight and push long hair back too.

Rubber ring

TIP: Though it is comfy and easier, do try to avoid slouching into the middle of the rubber ring.

If you spot a camera pointed in your direction while you are lazing around in the pool, push yourself back, lean on your arms and stretch out your legs.

And remember, always pull up instead of sinking down.

But if you are whizzing down a water flume then anything goes!
