This canal boat is on eBay at a surprisingly low price, but there’s just one problem..
The boat, which is moored on the River Avon, has one serious issue, but the seller is confident the winning bidder won't regret taking it off his hands
An unusual eBay listing offers a canal boat at a bargain price, but there's one issue with the boat - it's lying at the bottom of a canal.
for a sunken 47ft canal boat, which the winning bidder will have to raise from the murky depths of the River Avon.
The boat, which is currently 10ft underwater, may be on offer for a rock bottom price, but that's because the lucky bidder would have to prize it from the rocky bottom of the canal it sunk in.
The barge is described comically as "used" on its eBay listing, which features a picture of the boat before it sunk, and a shot of where it was moored back when it could float.
This canal boat is a real bargain for someone
The seller
It may seem like a bad deal, but the seller's £500 starting price was matched within days, and the current bid stands at £620, with 5 days of bidding left.
The listing describes the downed barge, built in 1979, as a "bargain", and confirms that the buyer is responsible for collection of the sunken vehicle.
The description reads: "This canal boat is a real bargain for someone.
"I bought this boat three years ago, installed a BMC 1.5 engine and started work on refitting her.
"It was halfway complete when unfortunately she sank at the end of February this year.
"I cannot give you a guaranteed reason of how she sank."
The seller adds: "She is tied off at the bow cleat with a chain and sitting very level, stern down in about 10ft of water on the River Avon.
"I have been told by police divers that the bottom is rocky (small-ish rocks) and no obvious holes had been seen throughout the hull."

He goes on to explain that he is selling his beloved boat because he doesn't have the time to raise her, but assures any interested parties that they'd get their money back if they forked out for the stricken canal boat.
The post continues: "The engine alone should easily be salvageable and is worth what you would pay for the whole boat.
"There is no access to her from land, only by water. A crane would easily lift her but would need to be from a barge or a floating pontoon.
"However, a crane is not the only way to re-float her. Once re-floated she would need to be moved from her current location."
