Beer goggles really DO exist! Over 75% of women admit finding men they didn’t fancy more attractive when drunk

Leading dating site IllicitEncounters asked 1,000 men and women about the effects of booze and their drunk encounters

IT'S official: beer goggles do exist and you're much more likely to have sex if you're boozing on a date, claims a new survey.

Three-quarters of women said that alcohol had made a man they had not previously fancied on a date seem more attractive.

And 84 per cent of men said a few drinks had changed their first impressions of a female date and made them keener to take things further.

The vast majority of women (86%) said they were more likely to sleep with a man on a date if alcohol was involved and nine out of ten men said booze made sex more likely on a date.

The results come from a new survey of 1,000 people by , the leading dating website for married people.

The dictionary definition of beer goggles is the "phenomenon in which one's consumption of alcohol makes physically unattractive persons appear beautiful".

The survey found that over half of the women had ended up having sex with a man while wearing beer goggles and almost all of them didn't see him again for another date.

While 64 per cent of men had experienced beer goggle sex  but three quarters had not seen the woman for a second date.

Despite these findings, 68 per cent of women and 82 per cent of men like to drink alcohol on a first date because it 'helps to break the ice' and makes them feel more confident.

IllicitEncounters.com spokesman Christian Grant said: "Dating is a stressful business - you are meeting a new person and need to make a good impression fast.

"It’s no wonder that both sexes finding that drinking alcohol makes the whole process a lot easier.

"As the booze flows, inevitably the beer goggles come on and dates that might have finished with a quick peck on the cheek end up going far further.

"That is the experience of millions of people who are dating online including lots of members of  - you end up kissing a few ugly ducklings before meeting your swan.

";Beer goggle sex may not lead to true love most of the time, but it can often be a lot of fun."
