McEggs Benedict anyone? McDonald’s releases poshest menu item yet
Who could've predicted that hollandaise sauce would be available at Maccy D's
POPULAR restaurant chain McDonald’s has left food lovers drooling over their latest fancy menu option.
If tempting McMuffin’s weren’t enough to satisfy your fast food cravings, diners are being given the option of eggs benedict in certain McDonald’s outlets.
The posh menu item is currently only being trialled in Taiwan, but there could a potential for the fast food chain to posh-up brunch for UK diners if it’s successful.
For around £2.10, the eggs can be purchased as a part of McDonald’s Big Breakfast Platter, where they’re served alongside the tasty treat is a bowl of salad, a hot drink and a crispy hash brown.
Since the menu item was rolled out in Taiwan, internet users have been sent into a frenzy.
One Twitter commented: “Yes!! McBrunch is going to become a thing”, while another added: “What I wouldn’t do for a McDonald’s eggs benedict.”
Despite this, not all fast food lovers could quite wrap their head around popping to a McDonald's drive-thru for some hollandaise sauce.
It’s not the first menu item to shake up McDonald’s breakfasts this year.
Days after causing a stir by axing the popular Big Breakfast from their UK menu, bosses at McDonald’s think they’ve devised the perfect replacement.
The fast-food giant is trialling the proposed new Chicken McGriddle at stores in Ohio, where 11 restaurants have started selling the new sandwich.
The new breakfast item, which bosses are deciding whether to roll out worldwide, is essentially a fillet of fried chicken sandwiched between two syrup-infused pancakes.
The 410 calorie delicacy was invented by Brian Mortellaro, who runs one of the Ohio McDonald’s branches.
Commenting on the sandwich, foodie Brian said: “It's a chicken-and-waffles taste.
"I just think that's something that isn't out there right now."
If the new sandwich is successful enough to make it to the UK, you can expect it to cost around £1.50.
