McDonald’s has unveiled a bright green burger and people don’t know how to react
Does this latest innovation leave you feeling green around the gills?
McDONALD’S have divided opinion by unveiling their latest, and perhaps strangest, creation – a green burger.
The fast food giant has been innovating ever since the first store opened in 1948, but burger buffs are understandably reluctant to tuck in to the bright green burger.
The special burger was released in China to promote the upcoming Angry Birds movie, along with an equally strange-looking red counterpart.
"The Naughty Green Pork Burger" includes a pork burger, egg, lettuce and a mystery jalapeño sauce – between a pair of bright green burger buns.
Its “Super Red Burger” equivalent is essentially a double chicken sandwich between a pair of fiery-looking, bright red buns.
But some customers have been left feeling a little green around the gills at the thought of the colourful creations.
In fact, some people have gone as far as to describe them as looking like they are made from “fresh mould” or “old blood.”
One fast-food fan took to Facebook to say: “This is usually the colour an uneaten Macdonalds burger looks the morning after a session anyway!”
And another sceptic said on Twitter: “Not gonna eat that ever in a million years under duress and in a hostage situation.”
However, this isn’t the first time that the fast food giant caused a stir on social media.
Last month, the internet was sent into a frenzy by the announcement that the chain was trialling made-to-order "Gilroy Garlic Fries” in San Francisco, which could soon be rolled out to other places.
McDonald’s said: “The new fries are made-to-order in McDonald’s kitchens where restaurant employees toss French fries in stainless steel bowls with a purée mix that includes ingredients such as chopped Gilroy garlic and olive oil, parmesan cheese, parsley and a pinch of salt.”
It comes after McDonald’s fans in St. Joseph, Missouri will soon be offered bottomless fries and table service.
However, while the new 6,500-square-foot branch will be trialling a huge amount of new offerings, you won't find them at your local high street McDonald's – for a few years, at least.
