'DO NOT EAT'

Major supermarket issues urgent recall of Christmas dinner favourite that could be ‘unsafe to eat’

Customers are being urged to check their fridges

A MAJOR supermarket has issued an urgent recall for a Christmas dinner staple after discovering a potential safety issue.

Tesco is recalling its Tesco Red Cabbage & Apple 300G due to an error on the packaging that could make the product unsafe to eat.

This Christmas dinner favourite is a popular choice for festive meals, and Tesco said it is acting swiftly to ensure customer safety.

The supermarket has apologised for the inconvenience and encourages customers to check their fridges for the affected product.

The packs incorrectly display a Use By date of December 29, instead of the correct date, December 11.

This mislabeling could lead to customers consuming the product past its actual shelf life, posing a potential health risk.

Tesco has urged customers who purchased the product not to eat it. Instead, it should be returned to any Tesco store for a full refund.

No receipt is required. Customers can also reach Tesco Customer Service at 0800 505 555 for further support.

It comes after another supermarket chain is pulling a supplement off shelves over fears it may contain small stones and pieces of metal.

Products from a buzzy wellness brand founded by Professor Tim Spector were urgently recalled, as the presence of foreign objects would make them "unsafe to eat".

Waitrose is recalling ZOE's Daily 30+ 7 Day "because it may contain small stones and small pieces of metal," according to by the Food Standards Agency (FSA).

"The possible presence of stones and metal makes this product unsafe to eat," the food watchdog said.

The supplement - a mixture of seeds and spices that's sprinkled over meals - is supposed to help you incorporate over 30 plants into your diet each week, which includes herbs and spices as well as fruit and veg.

Ingesting small, hard object such as stones can also pose a risk of choking, especially small children.

It's not the first time metal shards and stones have been found in food.

In October, Marks & Spencer recalled batches of butternut squash soup over fears they contained pieces of metal.
