A DERMATOLOGIST has revealed TikTok skincare trends you should avoid at all costs.
TikTok is home to millions of hacks and tips, some of which can be dangerous.
, a dermatologist from North Carolina, commonly warns his 11 million followers some could actually destroy your skin - and even harm your health.
These include DIY mole removal, or allowing anyone other than a doctor to treat skin lesions.
Moles that change in shape, colour, size or are completely new could be the first signal of skin cancer.
Reacting to a video in which a barber is removing a client’s mole, Dr Shah said: “You should never allow your barber to remove a skin lesion without a proper evaluation by a physician.
“We would evalue it, remove it under clean conditions and then send it off to a lab to look at it under a microscope.
“This is how you would remove the surface of skin cancer without the roots, and the risk is it could spread throughout the body.

“I do not recommend this, do not try this.”
Dr Shah also said that he had seen people “burning their skin or using acid” to remove moles, which causes “really bad scars”.
Speaking to , he revealed other emerging skincare hacks that are problematic:
DIY face masks
What works miracles for some people won’t necessarily help others - and may cause more problems.
Some TikTok users swear by kitchen cupboard ingredients for working wonders on their skin.
Ginger, cinnamon and turmeric have all been touted on the social media platform.
But Dr Shah said people should avoid masks that contain ginger and cinnamon, as both ingredients are "just not beneficial and can be very inflammatory”.
Popping spots
No one likes leaving a yellow-headed spot to fester on the skin.
Dr Shah warns, however, that popping spots could lead to scarring.
He said when you apply a lot of pressure to a pimple, it can pop under the skin, which can scar the face.
"If you have a pimple, it's usually walled off inside the hair follicle or other pores, so it's like it's locked into that location," Dr Shah said.
But the worst thing you could do is pop spots with dirty hands or before washing your face, as this can spread bacteria from the spot to other pores in the skin.
Dr Shah also says you should use gloves when removing zits to keep it hygienic.
Pore vacuums
Dr Shah regularly tells followers to avoid pore vacuums because they “damage your skin”.
