Prince William arrives to honour NHS heroes at Sun’s Who Cares Wins awards
PRINCE William arrived beaming for this year's much-anticipated Who Cares Wins awards tonight.
The royal grinned as he joined a host of famous faces out this evening to honour NHS heroes and brave Brits.
He walked the red carpet into the star-studded event this evening, waving and smiling at wellwishers.
The royal greeted Prime Minister Boris Johnson, with the pair walking along a corridor together chatting happily.
The Sun's Who Cares Wins awards have been held annually since 2017, and celebrate our amazing doctors, nurses, midwives, surgeons, volunteers, researchers and charity workers.
After a hard year and a half battling through the pandemic, it's never been more important to show our thanks to NHS workers.
This year we have teamed up with The National Lottery and NHS Charities Together.
The Duke of Cambridge, 39, and his wife the Kate Middleton, are both Patrons of the charity - but the Duchess is not joining Prince William this evening.
It will air on Channel 4 this Sunday at 7.30pm, but is taking place tonight at The Camden Roundhouse - with TV favourite Davina McCall hosting.
PM Boris Johnson is also at the awards this evening, just hours after delivering a press conference to the nation on the Government's Covid Winter plan.
He said earlier this year: “Through my own battle with Covid, I saw first-hand quite how brilliant our NHS is.
“I can’t wait to meet all of the worthy winners in person, hear their stories, and give them my very personal thanks.”
This year there are two new awards - the 999 Hero award and the Caroline Flack Mental Health Hero award.
We are launching the 999 Hero award to celebrate the incredible work of our emergency services.
That includes ambulance workers, police, fire service and air ambulance personnel.
