BEING savvy with your furniture can help you save thousands of pounds, but knowing what and how to do it can be the difficult part.

And Tasmin Blaney, 28, learnt just the trick to help her upcycle some of her used furniture and managed to totally transform her home on a budget.

She managed to make a profit of almost £1.3k upcycling just three items, which cost her a total of £169.51 and are now worth £1,450.

Tasmin, originally from Manchester, moved to her first home in Warrington back in September 2020 with her boyfriend as she “loved the greenery in the area!”.

Speaking to budgeting fintech bank,, Tasmin says: “I’ve always been creative and used to upcycle old furniture my mum had in the house to give it a new life in my bedroom.

“I was a fashion designer but was made redundant at the start of the pandemic, so I decided to go into teaching maths (quite a different route).

“I’ve missed being creative every day at work and trying to be as creative as possible in my home life as that’s what motivates me and keeps me going.”

reached out to Julia Anduiza, Founder of, a rental platform for interiors to predict the new resale prices of Tasmin’s projects.

Julia was previously selling vintage and second-hand homeware online during the pandemic and has since pivoted into creating a platform for renting interiors as a way to tackle the 'fast interiors' issue.

Julia explained that by upcycling wood furniture with quality paint and modern patterns, you can make a great profit on old unwanted items by renewing them.
