The 6oz beef patty is brushed with the famous spread and then covered in a smoked yeast and Parmesan-infused mayonnaise.

Chefs serving the creation also squeeze on a helping of "Marmite and cheese on toast" flavour cheese sauce, before topping it off with a deep-fried Bovril onion bhaji.

The £9.95 Love Not Hate Mate burger is served in a brioche bun at branches of the 7Bone Burger Co.

But unsurprisingly, the Marmite "ground round" has been met with mixed reviews.

Adam O’Shea, from Andover, Hants, has tried the Love Not Hate Mate and said: “This is the tastiest thing yeast created.”

But fellow diner Mark Brayford, from nearby Winchester, described it as “deeply disturbing”.

A spokeswoman for the restaurant chain said: “Love Not Hate Mate is for Marmite lovers and haters willing to be converted.”

Other burgers on the 7Bone Burger Co’s menu include the Prince Charles Is Overrated, which includes bacon, cheese and pickles, and the deep-fried pizza cheese stuffed Donnie J Trump.

Marmite is changing its receipe – but it’s for a good reason
