Tesco is now selling halloumi fries in stores… and fans are rejoicing

NEED to fulfil your cheese cravings? Tesco is now permanently selling halloumi fries in stores.

The supermarket chain previously sold the tasty treat at Christmas, but has decided to make them a full-time product – and fans have revealed their excitement.

Shoppers can fulfil their halloumi obsession by stocking up on packs consisting of eight sticks that can be cooked from chilled in 10-12 minutes.

A spokesperson for Tesco said: "Following the initial release as part of the Tesco Christmas food products, the Tesco Halloumi Fries are now available all year round in store and online.

“They are priced at £3.00."

The fridge snack has been described by the supermarket as “halloumi pieces coated in a golden breadcrumb for a crisp finish”.

So far they have proved such a hit with cheese lovers that they have sold out online – so you’ll have to be quick to get your hands on them in store.

According to Tesco, they are made using medium fat hard cheese from pasteurised cow’s, sheep’s and goat’s milk, and are coated in breadcrumbs.

Foodie Instagram account uploaded a shot of the fries and it’s racked up hundreds of likes, with fans writing: “I need these in my life” and “they're soooo good.”

Aldi were among the first to launch halloumi fries last year and scores of disappointed customers reported how they had “sold out” in numerous stores.

Aldi also told The Sun: ''We are delighted by the huge popularity of our Specially Selected Halloumi Fries, and we have been working incredibly hard to get more products into store for our customers.”

Aldi's halloumi fries cost £2.29 but as you can buy a 225g pack of halloumi from Aldi for £1.39, you could save some money and just fry it up yourself.

The supermarket said they got the idea for their halloumi fries from Nando's, who have been selling the snack as a side since February 2018.
