There’s an easy recipe to achieve the perfect chips using just two ingredients that you probably already have in your cupboard.

According to , all you need for the “best chips you’ve ever tasted” is potato and vegetable oil.

Firstly cut the potatoes into chips that are two centimetres thick, and then rinse them in water to remove any starch.

Then, put the chips in a pan and bring to the boil over a high temperature, before reducing to a simmer and cooking until tender.

Next, you need to drain them before leaving them in the fridge for two hours until they are cold and dry.

How to cook the perfect chips in the oven

1. Pre-heat the oven to 200C and peel the potatoes into chip shapes

2. Rinse under the cold tap to remove the starch and pat dry with a tea towel.

3. Spread in a single layer the chips on a non-stick baking tray and toss with oil and celery salt.

4. Roast for 45 to 50 minutes and serve with sea salt.

 

Then you need to put the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or a saucepan, and cook the chips in batches at 130C for five minutes.

Once again, you need to add the fries back to the fridge and leave them for another two hours until they are cold again.

Heat the vegetable oil again, this time at 180C, and then add the chips for eight minutes until they are golden.

Finally sprinkle on sea salt before serving, and bon appetite!
