HACKNEY-based baker Claire Ptak was selected to make Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding cake.

Who is Claire Ptak?
California-raised Claire formerly worked as a pastry chef for Alice Waters at Chez Panisse in Berkeley, California.
She started her own business as a stall in Broadway Market, East London, cooking from home, before opening her organic bakery in 2010.
The London-based baker focuses on using organic and seasonal ingredients in her cakes.

On her website, she writes: “All of my cakes are baked with organic flour, sugar, milk and eggs.
"Limited edition buttercream icings that adorn our birthday cakes, cupcakes, and fill whoopie pies and biscuits, change with the seasons.”
As well as running her bakery, she also works as a food writer and food stylist.

Where is Violet Cakes bakery?
Claire’s Violet Cakes is a small bakery based in East London.
The opening hours are Monday to Friday (8am to 6pm), Saturdays (9.30am to 6pm) and Sundays (9.30am to 6pm).

What has Claire Ptak made for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding cake?
The royal couple are to have a lemon elderflower cake which will be smothered in buttercream and decorated with fresh flowers.
Kensington Palace said the couple asked the professional to make a creation incorporating "the bright flavours of spring" for their May 19 wedding.
Claire said: "I can't tell you how delighted I am to be chosen to make Prince Harry and Ms Markle's wedding cake.
"Knowing that they really share the same values as I do about food provenance, sustainability, seasonality and most importantly flavour, makes this the most exciting event to be a part of."
