Couldn’t finish that takeaway last night? There is a way to reheat them and tuck back in

Chip expert Magda Ganea from The Real Food Café explained exactly why reheated chips taste less than appetising.

Magda told : “The biggest reason chips go soggy when reheating is moisture. Potatoes are full of moisture that escapes when reheated, especially in a microwave or oven where the steam can’t escape.”

However there is hope, and Magda revealed the perfect way to reheat chips.

Magda said: “Leftover chips should be cooled as quickly as possible and placed in the fridge with a loose cover.

Fully remove the moisture and then cook them again, either in a pan or under the grill

Then you should fully dry them, using kitchen towel or salt to remove any moisture.

The ideal way to reheat chips it to deep fat fry them, but don’t worry if you don’t have access to one at home, or if it just sounds like a bit of a faff.

You can also fry them in a hot pan with a tiny bit of oil for an extra crispy option.

Or even grill them making sure you regularly rotate them so they don’t burn.

Magda continued: “The key to crispy leftover chips is to start dry and cook on a high heat – or just eat them all in the first sitting!”

After frying, you should drain any excess fat on kitchen towel to ensure your chips are crispy and ready to tuck into.
