Tesco has launched BIZARRE Candy Cane-flavoured crisps… and shoppers are baffled

TESCO has launched a bizarre festive crisp bag just before Christmas… and fans are baffled at the unusual flavour.

The supermarket giant has launched limited-edition Candy Cane crisps, just in time for the holiday season.

Despite being named after the red and white striped sweets, the crisps are actually said to have a slightly pink hue.

For those brave enough to try them, the have already hit shelves in Tesco and a 150g bag will set you back £1.

The supermarket's website describes the flavour as: “Hand cooked crisps seasoned and dusted with a sweet peppermint flavouring for a sweet and salty taste experience.”

The unusual flavour joins several other limited edition crisps in Tesco's Finest range, which includes a Massaman Curry Crinkle Cut option, a Pulled Pork bag and a Brie and Cranberry version.

Baffled fans have been taking to social media to share their bewilderment at the Candy Cane variety.

One said: “Can’t believe I even bought candy cane flavoured crisps thinking they might actually taste good, yuck.”

Another wrote on Twitter: “Tried candy cane flavour crisps today. Still don't know how i feel about them. Reckon I'd smash through a bag of them if drunk.”

But one intrigued shopper said they would give them a chance: “As a hardcore candy cane enthusiast, I'm very excited for these Tesco finest hand cooked potato crisps.”

They aren't the only unusual crisp flavour to be released around the world.

From chocolate coated to blueberry flavour, it seems everyone has a different take on the classic potato chip.
