IF you're finding it hard to motivate yourself now the mornings are getting bleaker and darker, we may have the fix you've been dreaming of.
A craft bakery in Bolton has cooked up a solution to the morning blues, in the form of a delicious-looking crumpet loaf.
As you'd expect, the crumpet loaf does exactly what it says on the tin.
Rather than buying a whole load of crumpets, this incredible invention lets you buy an enormous, loaf-sized crumpet for you to get stuck in to.
Bolton bakery is responsible for the monster crumpet, which has been a staple at the 60-year-old bakery for a few years now.
Amazingly, it's taken until now for the unique product to gain the recognition it deserves - but praise has started flooding in for the delicious-looking loaf.
Sold for £1.50, the 400g loaf can be ordered on the bakery's website, although you'll have to make your way to a store to collect it.
Described as "beautiful toasted and buttered", the hefty loaves come pre-sliced, and are "thick and perfect for a warm snack day or night", according to Greenhalghs.
The loaf has even been recognised at the annual Bakery Industry Awards, where creator Stephen Baker, manager at Greenhalgh’s, revealed the origins of the loaf.
Initially, the product was designed to be a chewy, half-scone, half-crumpet loaf, a type of bread popular in Australia.
But the innovative baker couldn't resist turning the loaf into a full-on crumpet.
Celebrating the award back in 2012, Stephen, who has worked at Greenhalgh’s for over 30 years, said: “Crumpet Loaf is basically flour, yeast, sugar, water, and baking powder so it’s is like a crumpet mix.
"It’s quite unique and a great breakfast or teatime treat. We trialed it in our shops and customers just love it.”
