Last week, the savvy couple challenged themselves to create simple fakeaways using Aldi bargains.

They said: "We’re back with our five for £25 recipe series giving you five easy dinner options with all the ingredients you need from your local Aldi.

"Don’t get us wrong, we both love a cheeky takeaway on the weekend but to save some pennies, I’ve made it so I can whip up my favourite dishes at Haim [home] for a fraction of the cost."

With work and school, thinking about dinners from Monday to Friday can feel like too much hassle.

But food lovers Adam and Kelly's five recipes - taking inspiration from the likes of KFC and Domino's Pizza - all serve four people, so could see a family through the working week.

Here, we take a look at what they created...

MONDAY

First up for the week is a Chinese fakeaway - crispy honey chilli chicken, which works out at just £5.29 in total.

Kelly said: "This would be my go-to at a Chinese so it seems right to kick off our batch of Fakeaway recipes with a bang.

"These make a great option for batch cooking if you want to save yourself some hassle for the rest of the week, especially on those busier days when the last thing on your mind is cooking."

Ingredients include 600g of Scottish chicken thighs, soy sauce, honey and tomato puree.

TUESDAY

Adam and Kelly's second creation is Scotch beef doner kebab, £4.26.

The couple said the slow cooker recipe needs "minimal effort", adding: "It couldn’t be simpler to turn a classic kebab into your midweek fakeaway for a fraction of the cost.

"You have a little budget leftover with this one, grab some Aldi wonky potatoes and add on some wedges or chips! You can’t beat a kebab and chips."

For this one, the Aldi shopping list includes 500g of 20% fat Scotch beef mince and pitta breads.

WEDNESDAY

For a midweek dinner, your fakeaway offering is sweet potato, lentil and spinach dahl with three-ingredient cheesy naan breads, working out at £3.13.

"We try and vary our meals and like to add in a meat-free day every week", Kelly said.

"With autumn right round the corner, curries and soups become my comfort and this dahl is a staple in the colder months.

"Super quick to put together and the naan is the perfect accompaniment for a cheesy fix using Scottish yoghurt for the easiest dough."

THURSDAY

A pizza is a takeaway staple, so what better doughy treat to create at home than a Domino's - with individual Domino’s-inspired pepperoni passion stuffed crust pizzas, £4.04.

Kelly said: "Pizza is without a doubt Adam’s favourite takeaway option.

"You ask him what he fancies for tea on any given night it’s always going to be pizza so this recipe is a real saviour for our bank balance.

"It’s also a great one to cook together so whether you have friends round or a family to feed, make your midweek meal a pizza party and let everyone to pick what toppings they like.

"We’ve opted for pepperoni but you really have free reign to top these as you see fit."

And Aldi's 65p garlic and herb dip is hailed an essential for this one, as Kelly added: "It wouldn’t be a Domino’s fakeaway without lashings of garlic and herb dip, so don’t be shy."

FRIDAY

Adam and Kelly rounded off their working week of fakeaways with a classic KFC Tower Up Burger, £7.96.

Kelly said: "Happy Friday! It wouldn’t be authentic Haim Cooking if I didn’t squeeze a burger into our Fakeaway takeover with Aldi Scotland.

"And we’re going for a Colonel classic with a more seasonal twist.

"This is the only thing I order at KFC so it felt right to replicate this at Haim.

"Recently they released a Teriyaki burger so I’ve added a delicious teriyaki mayonnaise as well for that added flavour."

Essential ingredients for this one include four chicken breasts, seeded brioche rolls and hash browns.

And social media users are loving the Highland foodies' fakeaway recipes.

One said: "Absolutely spot on! Massive hit with the whole family. Thanks."

A second wrote: "Delish, looks really easy too - what a great little series of recipes."

A third added: "Okay heading to Aldi this weekend to pick these bits up to try."

Meanwhile, a fourth gushed: "Get in ma belly! Looks way better then the OG."

Graham Nicolson, Group Buying Director, Aldi Scotland, said: “At Aldi Scotland, we pride ourselves on our extensive range of locally sourced products that don’t hurt the bank balance.

"The five fantastic ‘fakeaway’ recipes Adam and Kelly have created are not only delicious and high-quality but cost less than £25 to make.
