THERE'S nothing worse than having to throw away food leftovers you didn't get chance to eat before they went off.

But one savvy foodie has shared how she freezes things you might not have realised you can.

explained how she save time and money by freezing her leftovers and food scraps she'd have otherwise chucked out.

Here are some of the things you might not know you can freeze

Cheese rinds

According to the cook, you can put cheese rinds, like parmesan cheese, into a freezer bag to use later.

"Next time you're making sauces or soup or stew, throw the entire rind in and it will give you great flavour," she explained.

Tomato paste

If you only need a small amount of tomato paste but don't want to waste an entire can you can portion it out in an ice cube tray to use later.

Just measure out one or two tablespoons and freeze - then add straight into your dishes as needed.

Wine and stock

There's no point in keeping the dregs of your wine sat in bottles taking up space, and stock will go off if it's left in your fridge for too long.

Pour it into an ice cube tray and use it for cooking later instead.

Peppers and onions

If you don't have a lot of time to cook meals, you can get ahead by preparing vegetables like peppers and onions in advance.

Chop them up however you like them and add to a freezer bag and use as needed.

Herbs

Fresh herbs can be frozen in oil, Steph explained.

Finely chop herbs like basil and mix with oil and freeze in an ice cube tray to add to dished later.

You can do the same with chopped chillies, rosemary, sage, thyme, and oregano too.

Avocadoes

Knowing when avocadoes are ripe can be a bit of a guessing game.

Plus, once they're ready to eat they can go off pretty fast, so freeze any you won't use instead of binning them.

Steph said: "Mash together some ripe avocadoes and lemon juice, portion them out on a sheet tray and freeze them."
