Chippy dishing up foot-long battered pigs in blankets for £3.95 – would you try it?

FESTIVE foodies can tuck into foot-long, battered pigs-in-blankets at two chippies.

The 12-inch whopper costs £3.95 on its own.

Diners can add chips, Yorkshire pudding and doner meat for £9.99 a box.

Those with a smaller appetite can order a six-inch sausage for £3.20.

Antoni Tsiolas, who runs Bestwood Fisheries in Nottingham, said: “It’s become tradition.

“People have been asking for them for over two months so they’re looking forward to them.

“At the end of the day we do them to bring a little bit of joy and happiness to our customers, who I can honestly say are brilliant and very understanding when prices have gone up.

“We know it’s hard for the consumer as well so the best thing we can do is give them plenty of food so it’s at least value for money.”

Antoni’s brother Theo runs the Jolly Fryer, 11 miles away in Kirkby-in-Ashfield, which serves the same menu.

He said: “It’s a genuine taste sensation.”
