Taking to the group , she said she found the items listed on Olio, which helps to distribute food and other products that are due to go out of date or that are unwanted by businesses or shoppers.

She wrote: “Olio… i‘m in shock.

“Picked all this up for free as it’s going off soon - that’s my freezer full!!!

“Not all of this is for me, we’ve shared with neighbours.”

She explained how she got the haul from a man who collected it from Tesco as part of the app’s scheme with the supermarket.

Tesco gives away products including bread, veg and pastries that would otherwise go to waste via Olio.

Volunteers sign up to be Olio food waste heroes, and are assigned a slot to collect surplus food from their local Tesco store.

They then bring it home and list it on the Olio app for their neighbours to collect for free.

The woman continued: “Everyone getting their knickers in a twist, I’m not the food waste hero person.

“I got this from a guy who obviously collected from Tesco himself - it was just lucky timing I got all this!”

Many people were impressed, with one saying: “Wow brilliantly timed, enjoy.”

Another added: “Wow well done!”
