Nathan, from the US, shared an image of his son's gourmet lunch which was decorate with two gold bows and gold wrapping paper for an added luxurious twist.

The mum went all out for her son's birthday packed lunchbox, including a special white and gold birthday napkin and gold cutlery.

Nathan wrote: "I wanted to show you guys the 24K gold lunch my wife made for our son's golden birthday.

She made him a shrimp and lobster wrap and made sure to include gold everything. She even painted his sparkling water gold."

The mum had even gone to the effort to make sure his sparkling water was painted gold.

One user asked what a 'golden birthday' was and Nathan explained what the term meant.

"'It's when your age matches the day of the month you were born." He said.

So if you were born on the 2nd of the month your second birthday would be your golden birthday.

Many users wished the boy a happy birthday but some users were left confused by the gold can.

Some were concerned about how the mum made the can of water gold and if it was safe as most paint isn't food safe.

Hope she didn't use spray paint,' one woman wrote, but another replied: 'I think that's why the straw is included.'

It's thought the mum simply purchased the products for her son's birthday, as hardware supplies such as spray paint and food should never be combined.
