If you want one of Krispy Kreme’s doughnuts, you’re going to have to queue at one of their many vending machines across the country.
But with this unbelievably easy recipe, you’ll be able to make Krispy Kreme style doughnuts at home.
Best of all, you don’t need any special equipment. Just make sure you get a big jar of Nutella, as these will go down a treat.
100g Roasted hazelnuts
12 x Teaspoons Nutella, chilled
200 ml of vegetable oil for deep-frying
225g self raising flour
Pinch salt
2 x Teaspoons caster sugar, pus extra for dusting
1 Large egg
250ml milk
1) Finely chop the nuts and place them onto a large plate.
2) Scoop out a teaspoon of Nutella and roll it into the nuts, making sure each scoop is nicely coated.
3) Place the nut-coated chocolate balls onto a plate and freeze for 30 minutes until firm.
4) Combine the flour, salt and sugar in a large mixing bowl.
5) Crack open the eggs and gradually whisk, before steadily pouring in the milk to make a smooth consistency.
6) Once the Nutella balls are firm – remove them from the freezer and roll them in the batter, making sure each one is nicely coated.
7) Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer (or wok, if you don’t have one).
8) Drop each ball into the oil and cook for 2-3 minutes until golden, occasionally moving them around to make sure they cook evenly.
9) Drain on kitchen roll and toss over some caster sugar and serve warm.
