Once cooked, the home cook served the entire chicken on a plate accompanied by a side of broccoli and cauliflower and the photos were so impressive that members of the group were eager to find out the recipe so they could give it a go themselves.

Upon request, the woman detailed her recipe, saying: ” For this one, I used cayenne pepper, hot chilli powder, garlic and onion powder, cajun seasoning, turmeric powder and some of my Indian curry powder.”

She also explained that she’d made a doughnut shaped ring out of tin foil and placed it on the bottom of the slow cooker and placed the chicken on top to avoid the bottom from burning.

If you already have a selection of spices at home, the meal could cost you as little as a couple of pounds with whole chickens available from Sainsbury’s for just £2.80.

And you could easily stretch it out across several meals to make it even more cost-effective – the options are endless.
