Meghan Markle fans slam cruel stylist for criticising her ‘shocking’ black £9k dress for Misha Nonoo’s wedding in Rome
A FASHION stylist has been slammed for criticising Meghan Markle’s £9k black dress she wore for Misha Nonoo’s lavish wedding.
The Duchess of Sussex, 38, was spotted attending the Rome nuptials with Prince Harry yesterday.
Lucas Armitage – who dresses Gemma Collins and other celebrities – branded her ensemble “shocking” because of its black shade.
Her outfit for the glamorous evening was an £8,900 sheer Valentino gown lined in sequins and with voluminous puff sleeves.
While the chic outfit worn by fourth-month-old Archie’s mum was widely praised on social media – the fashion stylist revealed he wasn’t a fan.
Speaking to , he said: “Wedding guests usually shun black in favour of a more complimentary colour to pair with white…
“Meghan isn’t one for playing by etiquette as we well know but even for her this is fairly shocking.”
However, Lucas’ comments didn’t go down well with royal fans, who pointed out that other guests – including Karlie Kloss, Princess Eugenie, Paul McCartney’s wife Nancy Shevell and Roman Abramovich’s ex-wife Dasha Zhukova – also wore black.
Taking to Twitter, one person wrote: “I thought the Duchess of Sussex looked stunning in her black Valentino dress for Misha Nonoo’s wedding.
“However, Lucas Armitage…criticised Meghan for wearing black.
“Conveniently overlooking, both Karlie Kloss and Nancy Shevell were also wearing black.”
Another commented: “He must shock easily, not very good at his job as a stylist if he finds wearing black to a wedding fairly shocking, it looks elegant, it’s an evening black tie wedding.
“I find it fairly shocking that he’s not critiquing all the guests.”
A third shared: “I found Trump’s dress to be more shocking. It was just light enough to be borderline and her boobs were all out.
“Meghan was beyond appropriate in black. Maybe the stylist…just doesn’t get invited to special events.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex left their baby son at home to attend the wedding of Misha to entrepreneur Michael Hess.
They were spotted arriving at the glamorous Villa Aurelia in the Italian capital alongside Harry’s cousins Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.
Other guests included Katy Perry and fiancé Orlando Bloom, as well as Karlie Kloss and husband Joshua Kushner.
Also in attendance were Ivanka Trump and husband Jared Kushner – who the Duchess of Sussex risked an awkward run-in with.
