Victoria Beckham gushes over pal Meghan Markle for showing the world that it’s ‘cool to be kind’
VICTORIA Beckham has sung the praises of Meghan Markle for making it “cool to be kind”.
The mum-of-four fashion designer, 45, is a friend of the Duchess of Sussex, 38, and applauded her for the speech she made at the British Fashion Awards last year.
The former Spice Girl told Glamour: “I liked what said at the [British] Fashion Awards, that it used to be cool to be cruel, and now it’s cool to be kind.
“Kindness was always at the core of Girl Power.”
Victoria added: “I have always been about embracing who you are, supporting others, not being judgemental, treating others how you want to be treated.
“Sometimes it’s just the fundamental basics. Women supporting women is key.”
Meghan surprised fans when she made an appearance at the awards ceremony in 2018, and presented an award for British Designer of the Year to her wedding dress creator, Clare Waight Keller.
In her speech, the duchess said: “I recently read an article that said, ‘The culture of fashion has shifted from one where it was cool to be cruel to now, where it’s cool to be kind.’
“To that point, I feel especially proud to announce tonight’s winner, who, yes, is a British designer leading on the global stage with vision and creativity, but also with incredible kindness, which is why when I met her for the first time 11 months ago, I knew that we’d be working very closely together.”
