SIMON Pegg joked that he had “broken” the Queen when she struggled to start a conversation with him back in 2010.
The pair met for the first time at the premiere of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader which saw the monarch introduced to all the members of the cast.
But they ran into an awkward moment when the Queen was stumped for something to say to the actor.
Speaking on the Graham Norton Show at the time, Simon explained: “I met her at the Narnia premiere; I thought I broke her to be honest.
“The Queen has never had to worry about the awkwardness of starting a conversation, she’s never had an embarrassing pause because she always must speak first.
“So she takes as much time as she wants to do that so she came up to me, and I was stood next to young Joe McElderry, the X Factor winner.
“She said to him ‘you’re a musician?’ after someone whispered in her ear.
“She came up to me and she went (pauses). I was just waiting for her to speak and I swear it was like 30 seconds, I started to bead sweat and eventually she said ‘and what do you do?’
“I almost hugged her because I thought ‘thank goodness you’re still with us’.”
Simon was the voice of Reepicheep the mouse in the film adaptation of the C S Lewis chronicles, and claims that the Queen was moved to tears by his performance.
He continued: “I made her (the Queen) cry, I have it on good authority, at the end of Narnia there’s a very sweet moment with the mouse, he does this very moving thing.
“The Queen was sitting maybe five seats down from me wearing 3D glasses, and she actually dabbed her eye with a tissue.”

The comedian was also left tickled by a comment that Prince Philip made about his performance.
He added: “But the great one was Prince Philip came by, and I played a mouse in Narnia, and he said ‘when did you realise you had the voice of a mouse?’”
