Earlier this week, Kate launched the permanent opening of her Back to Nature play garden, hoping it will encourage families and friends to have fun together.

The mum - who reportedly once said she finds public speaking "nerve-wracking" - spoke confidently in addressing visitors at the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Garden Wisley in Surrey.

"As a parent, I have learnt just how important it is to foster our children’s development, in all areas, not just physical, as soon as they are born," she said.

"We build the blocks, the foundations, for future success and happiness later in their lives. These relationships, however, stretch far beyond the crucial one that a parent or carer has with its child.

"She has a deep curiosity to really understand the issues.”

When Prince Charles ascends the throne, Kate Middleton will move up the line of succession to become the Princess of Wales - the title last held by her husband’s mum, Princess Diana.

Meanwhile Wills will likely inherit his dad’s title to become Prince of Wales.

If she wishes, Kate can use the name as a sweet tribute to the mother-in-law that she never got to meet.
