PRINCESS Charlotte will be joining big brother George at St Thomas’ in Battersea this week.
And as is royal tradition we are likely to see a snap of the four-year-old posing in her school uniform before heading in for her day at the primary school.
Prince George did just this on his first day back in 2017 when he posed alongside dad Prince William before his first day.
Mum Kate Middleton had to opt out of the school run after suffering a bout of morning sickness while pregnant with Prince Louis, but we can expect to see her this week according to reports.
Before starting school, Charlotte attended nursery at Willcocks where she too was photographed wearing a red coat and her back pack by the Duchess of Cambridge.
It is a tradition that spans back through many royal generations, with both William and Harry photographed as they started at Wetherby.
Prince Harry posed with brother William and mum Princess Diana at their school in Notting Hill which required them to wear an iconic grey and red blazer – and matching felt cap.
The princes’ cousins Beatrice and Eugenie got the same treatment when they started at school, with Sarah Ferguson on the school run.
A then blonde Beatrice began at Upton House School in Windsor back in 1991 where she was pictured taking her mum’s hand as she was lead into class.
Taken on the first day of term in 1994, Eugenie beams alongside older sister Beatrice who looks less than impressed at the prospect of returning for another year.
Their dad Prince Andrew was not pictured on his first day of primary school however, but he was pictured as entered Heatherdown Preparatory School at Ascot.
Standing by was his proud mum the Queen as she prepared to say goodbye eight-year-old Andrew as he headed off for boarding school.
In another throwback shot we see the heir to the throne Prince Charles as a whipper snapper shaking hands with the headmaster at Gordonstoun School on his first day.
