Meghan Markle’s maternity leave finishes this month as her and Prince Harry prepare to jet off on South Africa tour
MEGHAN Markle is set to return from her maternity with a bang this month – as she jets off on her South African tour with Prince Harry.
The Duchess of Sussex, 38, has been spending time with baby Archie since he was born on May 6, but the Sussex Royal Instagram has revealed when she will be back to royal duties.
The account shared a message on their Instagram Stories which included a clock counting down to the start of their “Royal Tour of Southern Africa”.
This revealed that, at the time of posting on Sunday, it is 21 days until the tour starts.
If you clicked on the clock, the account confirms that the tour starts on September 23 and fans will be able to see Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and Archie as a family-of-three.
It has been confirmed that Meghan and Archie will be visiting South Africa with Harry, who will then carry out further visits to Malawi, Angola and Botswana.
THE SUSSEX ROYAL TOUR TO SOUTH AFRICA IN AUTUMN
The palace released a statement saying: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will undertake an official visit to South Africa this Autumn at the request of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
“In addition, The Duke of Sussex will visit Angola and Malawi at the request of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
“His Royal Highness will also undertake a working visit to Botswana while in the region.”
Little Archie will be around four months old at the time, and royal expert Katie Nicholl said the couple won’t have wanted to leave him behind due to him being so young.
The Instagram message, written by Prince Harry, 34, said: “In just a few weeks, our family will be taking its first official tour to Africa, a region of the world that over the past two decades has been a second home to me.
“Our team has helped create a meaningful programme that we’re so excited to share with you. On a personal note, I can’t wait to introduce my wife and son to South Africa! We’ll see you all very soon.”
The same message was shared on the Sussex Royal Instagram grid and included a photo montage of pictures taken all over the continent.
Since giving birth, Meghan has been seen a number of times, including at Trooping the Colour in June, supporting Prince Harry at the polo in July and the Lion King premiere on July 14.
Despite keeping a fairly low profile, she has caused controversy over the summer after taking four private jets in 11 days going to Ibiza and Nice.
The couple are expected to visit the Queen in Balmoral this week.
