Mum transforms her staircase using glossy paint and heart-shaped light – and DIY fans are loving it

A MUM has wowed DIY fans by totally transforming her staircase for just £65.

The woman, called Sharon, has revealed how she was able to get the amazing results using just a few items, including glossy paint, disused carpet swatches, quirky wallpaper and a heart-shaped charity shop lamp.

She shared pictures of her impressive handiwork on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group on .

They show how her previously bleak staircase has been changed into a colourful homely space with the addition of pretty lanterns and old bottles containing fairy lights.

Captioning the post, Sharon wrote: "My hallway make over on my stairs and landing.

"Painted the stairs with water based gloss 28.99 done all upstairs floorboards too with the same tin.

"The carpet treads were from a carpet shop book bought for 1.00.

"Bought a tin of carpet adhesive for 8.99 in B&Q, they are all slightly different shades but can't tell.

"Been down a year now and still looking good.

"Edit paint on walls teal topaz B&M and wallpaper was B&Q."

With the paint costing £28.99, the pieces of carpet £1 and the carpet adhesive £8.99, she was initially set back just £39.

We estimate that she then spent around £12 on wallpaper from B&Q and £11 on paint from B&M, and she also later revealed the heart-shaped light on the wall was £3 from a charity shop  - bringing her total to a relatively affordable £65.

Fellow Facebook users rushed to compliment her on the gorgeous finish - and the post has already received more than 600 likes.

One person wrote: "This is lovely."

A third shared: "Looks beautiful, love that wallpaper."

And a fourth added: " I'm planning something similar. Really nice."
