Size 14 maid of honour reveals fitness-mad bride and groom made her a workout plan to ensure she lost two stone before their big day

A MAID of honour has revealed her shock at being asked by her bridezilla friend of 30 years to follow an unsolicited weight loss plan to drop two stone ahead of the big day.

The 33-year-old from Orlando, Florida, shared the horror story on Reddit and admitted she was seeking  advice on how to deal with the bride's hurtful comments.

Explaining both the bride and her groom-to-be are personal trainers, the women said the pair offered her a fitness plan they'd worked on together to make sure she lost weight for the wedding.

Naturally, the anonymous woman, who wears a UK size 14, admitted she wasn't sure she wanted to attend the wedding anymore, with the bride ruining their 30-year friendship.

Asking if it was okay to 'ask someone to lose weight for a wedding', she wrote: "My friend is a personal trainer and got engaged to another personal trainer. All of their friends are from the gym they both work at.

"I have known her since we were both five - and I am not a personal trainer. I wear a UK size 14 - so I'm not obese, but I'm on the larger size. But I'm very comfortable with who I am.

"Tonight she called me with the 'best' news. Her fiance and her are putting together a great work out and meal plan together for me. She was so excited, like she was doing me a favour.

"They said they'd figure if I drop two stone, the wedding pictures will be more 'symmetric'. I wasn't even sure what to say so I just hung up and haven't responded since.

"I've never asked for help and I've never mentioned wanting to lose weight. They both took it upon themselves to 'help me'."

The upset maid of honour explained that she's now 'obviously' planning on opting out of her position in the wedding, adding she wasn't sure she even 'wanted to go' altogether.

She wrote in the comments: "She's turned into a total bridezilla. Her mum emailed me to apologise and said this wasn't like her at all."

Thousands of Redditors took to the comments to share their thoughts about the bride's unsolicited approach, with many disgusted and agreeing the maid of honour should skip the wedding.

One wrote: "Tell her you'll do one better - tell her your total weight so she can just subtract that number from her wedding party."

Another agreed: "What the actual f*** is she thinking? This is not okay and a real friend would never ask that of you. Weddings can bring the worst out in people."

"Honestly, I'd opt out of everything," said a third. "Anyone who would degrade and humiliate their best friend like that has lost their honour and integrity. I'm sorry you were treated  like that."

A fourth joked: "You can lose 120 pounds or whatever real fast by dumping her as a friend."

While many supported this stance, a few suggested taking the plan anyway as personal trainers can be 'expensive', and it might be useful to have in the future.

"That free workout programme and meal plan from some personal trainers is a good offer," said one man. "I'd jump at this opportunity if someone offered it to me."

The woman explained in the comments that she later decided to not attend the wedding and had told the bride she would no longer be attending and would rather save herself the money for a holiday.

"I text her exactly what I thought and said not to even waste money on sending me and invite," the woman added. "I said I'll be busy that weekend on holiday with my family.
