TRADITION has it that the single woman who catches the bride's bouquet when she tosses it in the air on her wedding day will be the next to marry.

While the ritual stems from folklore, people do take it rather seriously - and a guest who caught the flowers on her friend's big day may be in for a surprise after her long-term boyfriend was caught on camera giving a hilarious reaction to the moment.

In a now-viral video from a wedding in Bellville, Ohio, the bride can be seen throwing her bouquet in the air at an outdoor wedding reception.

A group of women run to try and catch the falling flowers - and one, wearing a black dress, succeeds.

The person filming then pans to her long-term boyfriend, who is standing with a drink in his hand by a table several metres away.

However, rather than look delighted by the fact his partner has caught the bouquet - suggesting he could be walking up the aisle sometime soon - he looks rather horrified.

Unfortunately for the wedding guest, the camera then zooms in and catches him "cringing" and visibly shaking his head.

The funny clip, which was originally filmed last October, has recently resurfaced and been circulating online and gone viral.

It attracted several comments from people who joked about the future longevity of the couple's relationship.

One person wrote: "[He's] like = Not today satan."

A third shared: "That's [awful]. I'd dump him."

However, the person who originally uploaded the video to YouTube revealed that the couple had been together for a few years and have a two-year-old child together.

Suggesting that it was all in jest, they wrote: "We are all friends and they thought the video was hilarious."
