UK’s Dr Pimple Popper squeezes giant ‘shamrock-shaped’ lump from man’s arm on The Bad Skin Clinic
DR Pimple Popper is back again, this time squeezing a giant ‘shamrock-shaped’ lump from a former Irish popstar’s arm.
Dr Emma Craythorne, Britain’s very own Dr Pimple Popper, is visited by Callum Lapsley, now 43, at her 152 Harley Street clinic in the next episode of The Bad Skin Clinic on Quest Red.
And she helps the Nineties singer with a devastating skin condition which means that his body is covered in multiple fatty bumps and lumps.
In particular, Dr Emma can’t believe her eyes when she squeezes one bump on Callum’s arm and the growth that emerges out of it is in the shape of an Irish shamrock.
As she pushes the lump, the doctor, who is Northern Irish herself, gasps: “Oh my gosh, it’s a shamrock! Literally, it is a shamrock! Look at that!”
“Oh my god. Well of course, I’m Irish”, Callum responds.
Callum first found success in the early 1990s as a member of boyband NV – and even played alongside superstars like Westlife.
However, the past two decades he has spent hiding his gruesome skin condition.
He says: “I think I was in my mid-20s, and I found a little lump on my arm.
“By the time 15 years came, I had 30 or 40 of them all over my body, varying from pea to grape-sized.”
Despite his confident side, Callum admits he’s worried that the lumps will continue to grow.
He adds: “It’s kind of depressing not knowing where they’re coming from or why they’re happening.
“You’re constantly finding new ones and because there are so many of them, you wonder if there’s anything dangerous in there.”
What is a lipoma?
A lipoma is a benign, fatty lump that grows under the skin.
They’re harmless and can usually be left alone if they’re small and painless.
They are non-cancerous and are caused by an overgrowth of fat cells.
Lipomas can grow anywhere on the body, but are most common on the shoulders, neck, chest, arms, back, bum and thighs.
They grow very slowly and don’t usually cause any problems.
Lipomas don’t usually need to be removed unless they’re causing problems, such as pain, or if there’s uncertainty about whether it’s a lipoma.
However it can be removed if it is large or is in an obvious place and is affecting your self-esteem.
You should always see your GP if you develop a growth or swelling on your body.
Dr Emma is able to clear up some answers for Callum, reassuring him that the lumps are nothing to worry about.
She says: “They’re very squishy, doughy like. I mean, I would be playing with that all the time! They’ve all got their own consistency to them.
“These what you have here are definitely lipomas.
“They’re just completely benign – in other words, not a cancer – growths within the fat cells.”
Dr Emma, who specialises in procedural dermatology, is able to remove three of Callum’s lipomas much to his relief.
Following the procedure, he says: “Dr Emma did a great job. She made me feel so relaxed, the surgery was nice and easy so I’m absolutely delighted with it.”
Callum’s treatment comes after Dr Emma removed a mushroom-shaped growth from a man’s head in the first episode of The Bad Skin Clinic.
Sales consultant Andrew Mensah had been hiding the lump under a baseball hat for three years.
