Ellen DeGeneres defends ‘compassionate, down-to-earth’ Meghan Markle and Prince Harry amid private jet row

ELLEN DeGeneres has defended “compassionate” Meghan Markle and said the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are attacked “for everything they do”.

Taking to Twitter, Ellen said: “Portia and I met Prince Harry and Meghan in England to talk about their work on wildlife conservation. They were the most down-to-earth, compassionate people.

“Imagine being attacked for everything you do, when all you’re trying to do is make the world better.”

Her comments come after Elton John’s passionate defence of the couple’s use of the private jet to visit his swanky £15million mansion in Nice.

The Rocket Man singer, 72, confirmed he provided the luxury 12-seater Cessna plane, that would have cost over £20,000 to hire, due to the couple’s “high level of much-needed protection.”

Piers Morgan today called the ‘eco warrior’ couple out for their jet use by sharing a photo of himself in economy and told them to “try it sometime”.

Their jet-setting holidays come just after Harry attended a super-secret Google Camp event in Sicily – on July 30.
