Carrie Symonds’ £225 eco-friendly Liberty dress already has a waiting list as the ‘Carrie effect’ continues

CARRIE SYMONDS has been praised for her outfit choices since becoming the UK’s ‘first lady’.

And the £225 dress the 31-year-old girlfriend of Boris Johnson wore to make her first solo speech yesterday was no exception.

The former Tory PR – who now works for Bloomberg’s Vibrant Oceans programme – spoke at Birdfair, an environmental awareness conference, in Rutland.

Carrie wore a floral midi-dress designed by eco-friendly designer Justine Tabak using iconic Liberty print.

She paired the stylish frock – made from natural biodegradable cotton free from microplastics – with a pair of green wellington boots, a red handbag and gold jewellery.

There’s already a wait-list for the sustainable piece, and fashion fans who pre-order can expect delivery at the end of this month.

According to the designer’s website, the “has romance written all over it with its ‘leg ‘o’ mutton sleeves, square neck and softly flowing midi length.

“Updated for modern living, we have eased out the waist, simplified the cut and added deep pockets for your mobile phone.”

Carrie’s dress was made from fabric produced as part of the Better Cotton Initiative, a “collective movement to promote better cotton farming practices, non polluting dyes, safe for the environment and the customer”.

However, shoppers can also pre-order the dress – which comes in extra small, small, medium and large sizes – in lightweight indigo denim.

It comes as the ‘Carrie effect’ has seen a number of dresses worn by the Prime Minister’s partner sell out.

Earlier this week, she wore a £159 Whistles shirt dress for her first official appearance with Boris at Downing Street.

Last month, when her boyfriend gave his first speech as Prime Minister, she wore a £120 Ghost dress.

It promptly sold out within hours of her appearance outside Number 10.

She also wore a £200 leopard print Karen Millen dress to the launch of Boris’ leadership campaign.
