The DIY guru explained that she did her stairs up two years ago, swapping her tired cream carpet for a chic grey and white look.

And impressively, they still look as good as new.

Alongside before and after pictures, the woman wrote: "My DIY stairs I did 2 years ago and they still look the same. All for £35.

"Wilko durable paint for the stairs. £10. Wallpaper from online. £10. Carpet tiles from eBay, also available on amazon. £15 [sic]."

When asked if the painted sections of the stairs are slippery, the mum replied: "No not slippery it's matte paint. Then a thin layer of varnish, water based."

She also explained that she'd used a small amount of superglue to keep the carpet in place, adding: "It has a sticky back but it wasn't great so we used super glue but only 3 small dots xx."

And for those worried about how easy it would be to keep a similar surface clean, she said: "I have a feral child and 5 animals and its a lot easier to clean [than carpet] I think xx [sic]."
