Mum texts baby news to the wrong number – but the strangers pay them a visit in hospital anyway
SENDING a text message to the wrong number often results in a brief exchange and an awkward apology.
But for one new mum, it ended in a pair of strangers stood at the side of her hospital bed, congratulating her on the birth of her baby.
Lindsey Lashley and husband Mark, were overjoyed when they welcomed their new arrival, Cason Knox.
But to their surprise, Mark's mum Teresa had accidentally been texting updates about the baby's arrival to a total stranger.
Explaining on Facebook, Teresa said: "I accidentally text a message about Mark and Lindsey having a baby to a number I had in my phone for someone else which now belongs to Mr Dennis Williams.
"He and his brother came by to visit us and brought the baby a gift!
"What a blessing these two guys were to our family. They were so sweet and kind to do this!
"You two are great guys and thank you for giving to someone you didn't know!"
While Teresa initially thought she was sending a group message to family and friends, she had no idea the old number - which once belonged to Mark's cousin - was now Dennis'.
New dad Mark told the : “It was different. I mean, my friend just walked in and said: ‘There are some more people coming down the hallway,’ and we didn’t know who they were and they said, ‘Oh, we’re the ones who got the random text message.’
“The reason it happened was my cousin had a new phone and I guess those boys ended up with her old number.
“I don’t think we would have randomly invited them over but we appreciate it and the gifts. You don’t hear about much compassion in the news anymore.”
And the internet has found it hilarious, with several commenting on the Facebook post and praising Dennis and his brother.
One called them a "blessing to society" while another said: "That is the sweetest, cutest thing I've ever heard of!"
